Parking at the heart of tomorrow's mobility

Publication: Tribune de Genève – Smart Media supplement « Sustainable Mobility » (focus.swiss)·Published: September 2025·Page: 4·Format: Brandreport · Hesion Suisse SA

Parking at the heart of tomorrow's mobility
In Switzerland, parking spaces are becoming scarcer and cantonal regulations increasingly strict. Businesses can no longer have as many spaces as before and must justify every allocation. Employees are also increasingly being charged to use parking spaces, a practice that is becoming the norm. In this context, employers are being encouraged to offer a high-quality service and make the most of their parking capacity.

With Hesion Access, Hesion helps businesses implement effective mobility plans using automatic number plate recognition. Every space is used more efficiently: reservations for some users, dynamic access based on needs, or carpooling integration. This flexibility enables management teams to meet new constraints while improving the employee experience.

Ticketless public car parks: simpler and more self-sufficient

For public car parks, Hesion draws on its partnership with IEM SA, a leading Geneva-based company. Together, we are developing a 100 % digital solution: no tickets or consumables. Hesion has developed AI-based number plate recognition. Management is simplified and operating costs are significantly reduced. No more lost or crumpled tickets, machines to maintain or consumables to pay for: parking becomes more reliable for users and more profitable for operators.

This digitalisation also enables automated scenarios: adapting traffic flows to occupancy levels, reserving specific zones and improving vehicle turnover. Operators gain greater control and predictability while reducing the need for human support.

Better energy and air quality management

Beyond access, energy consumption remains a major challenge. Car parks are often major energy consumers, particularly for ventilation and lighting. With Hesion Sense and Hesion Eole, Hesion offers smart ventilation that activates only when genuinely needed, using gas detection (CO/NO). This ensures user safety and comfort while reducing electricity consumption. The substantial savings achieved contribute to environmental targets that are being monitored increasingly closely by local authorities and operators.

EasyCharge: preparing for the rise of electric mobility

Electric mobility is growing rapidly and transforming the role of car parks. With EasyCharge, Hesion offers simple, seamless charging: the user parks their vehicle, the charging point recognises the number plate and charging starts automatically. No badge, card or additional action is required. This approach integrates naturally into car park management and turns parking facilities into true energy hubs. EasyCharge also enables operators to collect charging data for each vehicle and ensure that electric vehicle spaces are used correctly.

Our long-term vision

For Hesion, a car park is no longer just a place to park. It is a central link in mobility, where regulatory, economic and environmental challenges meet. By optimising access for businesses, simplifying management for public car park operators and anticipating new uses related to energy and electric vehicles, we are helping build tomorrow's cities: seamless, sustainable and designed to serve their users.
