Car park monitoring: how does it work?

Car park monitoring: how does it work?

Hesion has been offering its monitoring system alongside the Sensoparc ® system for several months. Many new features will become available in the coming months. But before exploring what is new, let us look at how this monitoring system works and how it can help you manage your car park day to day. Is it easy to install and use? What data is collected? And how is it retrieved? We will answer all these questions in this article.

Car park monitoring: what is it for?

Our field equipment is at the heart of your car park, generating large amounts of data as it operates. Before our monitoring system, access to this data was very limited and only available directly on the equipment. Today, you can access it directly on a web page through a stylish, user-friendly interface. You can monitor your car park at a glance from your computer.

This monitoring system is another step towards the smart car park of tomorrow. Hesion's teams work every day to bring you even more features and services.

Installation and initial start-up

Installing the monitoring system is very straightforward, whether upgrading an existing site or equipping a new car park. It comes as an add-on module for our field equipment and is installed next to the Sensoparc ® control unit. The two then need to be connected so that data can be exchanged.

On initial start-up, the monitoring system will automatically detect the control unit.

Sensoparc ® and the entire configuration will be set up without manual intervention.

Our teams will then configure the settings specific to the monitoring system (user account, password, available tools).

The monitoring system then needs to be connected to your internal network using an « RJ45 » cable.

Installation is then complete: within moments, the system is fully operational and ready to use. You can then access the monitoring system from your workstation using your preferred web browser.

How data collection works

Data is collected and stored throughout the system's lifetime. It is collected every 30 seconds using the « Modbus » protocol.

For Sensoparc ®, the data collected includes:

  • The concentrations measured by each detector.
  • Faults and status information for detectors, zones and the control unit.
  • The connection status with the control unit.
  • Internal data required for system operation.

This data can then be accessed in real time through your dashboards, as shown in the image below:

As all data is stored, you can also review your installation's history using the reports page, as shown in the following image:

These reports allow you to track your installation, analyse data and take preventive or corrective action accordingly.
